Write Here. Write Now.
Welcome to the Flatiron Writers Room - providing a brick & mortar hub for the Asheville writing community.
Located at 5 Covington Street in West Asheville’s vibrant Haywood Road corridor, the Flatiron Writers Room provides space for writers to learn, teach, read, celebrate and, of course, WRITE.
The Flatiron Writers Room is an outgrowth of the Flatiron Writers, who have been writing and providing workshops and events for the western North Carolina writing community since 1993.
We host Flatiron Writers workshops and events; in addition, our space is available for rent to writers who want to teach, host a book launch, or hold a writers’ group or book club meeting.
Our goal: to nurture a vibrant and supportive writing community--inspired by Asheville’s rich literary history--while providing writers with quiet, affordable space in which to write, and classrooms in which to teach or participate in classes and workshops.
Through our Literary Calendar, we look forward to coordinating with regional writers and writers’ organizations so that writers in our community know about all of the wonderful events and opportunities available to them.
Upcoming Events and Workshops at
the Flatiron Writers Room:
Thursday, July 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Writers and booklovers, join us on our lovely porch for Game Night at the Flatiron Writers Room! Admission cost is a donation of $5 or more to Asheville Writers in the Schools and Community.
Bring your own beverage. We’ll supply popcorn and the games. Show off your prowess at Scrabble, Bananagrams, Author Cards (think “Go-Fish”) and a Pride & Prejudice Trivia Game.
Asheville Writers in the Schools and Community (“AWITSC”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which connects working writers with students, teachers, and community members to foster critical literacy skills, confident imaginations, and equitable relationships.
You can donate on line and show us your receipt, or donate at the door by cash or check.
